When a student is struggling inside or outside the classroom, asking for support can be difficult. Faculty, staff, peers and family members who have a non-urgent concern about a UMSI student — including but not limited to academic difficulty, financial hardship, mental health, a medical issue, extended absence or concerning behavior — are strongly encouraged to submit the UMSI Student Care Referral.
Students may experience an emergency situation or one-time, unusual, unforeseen expense while in school. The University offers several types of assistance for students in such special circumstances.
Students are at the center of everything we do. At the University of Michigan School of Public Health, our goal is to prepare our students to become not just public health professionals, but leaders in their fields. We do that by enriching your experiences beyond the classroom and lab, and by supporting students in all aspects of your educational journey.
Student Life facilitates transformational student experiences by advancing student learning and development, fostering well-being, and cultivating an inclusive and equitable campus community.
